The official poster for the 84th Academy Awards has been unveiled On Wednesday, December 28, less than a month away from its nominations announcement. The poster pays homage to eight notable motion pictures across eight decades.
Adorned with three words, "Life. Camera. Action," the artwork features the gold man next to images from "Gone with the Wind", "Casablanca", "Giant", "The Sound of Music", "The Godfather", "Driving Miss Daisy", "Forrest Gump" and "Gladiator". Seven of those movies won Best Picture, while one, namely "Giant", earned George Stevens a Best Director kudo.
2012 Oscars will take place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, February 26. It will be televised live starting at 7 P.M. EST/4 P.M. PST on ABC, and mark Billy Crystal's ninth time hosting the ceremony. Its nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 24 at 5:30 A.M. PST in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
