The images were allegedly hacked from the actress’ mobile phone, according to FOX news reports.
"The FBI is aware of the alleged hacking incident and is looking into it," an FBI official told Fox News.
Johansson, 26, is only one of many celebrities who have been the victim of n*de photographs leaking due to hacking. Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba and Blake Lively were also rumored to have suffered the same fate, according to FOX.
According to People magazine, the FBI is investigating an estimated 50 people. In March, The Los Angeles Times reported that Johansson’s name was on a list with other celebrities who were victims of a hacking ring seeking to obtain information from their private accounts and smartphones.Scarlett Johansson’s photographs leaked on Wednesday according to TMZ, causing the actress to seek legal action.
Some people did not seem to believe that the actress’ photographs were not intentionally leaked and took to Twitter to express their skepticism."Oh come on. Your computer was hacked or did you need to feel special again," one Twitter user questioned.Another person took to Twitter to express their concern for underage people who now had access to Johansson’s n*de photographs with the simple click of a mouse.
"Millions of mothers will have to disinfect their home computer's keyboard and mouse tonight," another post read.Although the actress is amid the n*de photograph scandal, she will appear in the movie “We Bought a Zoo” due in theatres in December 2011. Johansson will co-star beside Matt Damon, Cameron Crowe and Elle Fanning.She has starred in over 30 movies and has been a global ambassador for Oxfam, the aid and development agency.
